About

A ministry that began more than 25 years ago in the mountains of western North Carolina continues today stronger than ever before! The Greenes are notorious for smooth three-part harmony and chart-topping songs. Their hits include number one songs such as When I Knelt, In the Twinkling of an Eye, Jesus' Rocking Chair, Glorious City of God, Hold On, Living in the Middle of Love, and most recently, TaRanda Greene became the first female soloist in the history of Southern Gospel Music with the nationwide number one song, Sky Full of Angels. The Greenes are quick to acknowledge that all credit goes to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who has called them and given them a song to sing. Many times that song comes through the pen of original group member and brother, Tim Greene. Tim, also an ordained minister and doctor of theology, is one of the most anointed, biblically on-line songwriters in Southern Gospel music today. With exceptional God-given talent, nearly 30 years of experience, more than 30 Top 40 releases, a strong desire to see the lost saved and the believer encouraged, accented by just the right combination of qualities, The Greenes continue to bless and touch lives all across the country with their heartfelt singing, and can be seen on national television as they make regular appearances on the Gaither Homecoming Series video recordings.

Youngsters Tim and Tony Greene began singing in local churches with their sister Kim and little did they know that today they would be one of the most sought-after mixed trios in gospel music. Tony still carries on the musical tradition handed down by his father Everette with the addition of his wife, the former TaRanda Kiser. TaRanda joined The Greenes in 1997, and became Mrs. Tony Greene February 13, 2001, and mother to Isabella Faith on July 15, 2004. At only 28 years old, TaRanda possesses an exceptional soprano voice and warm personality that has allowed her to sing her way right into the hearts of listeners everywhere. TaRanda has received multiple award nominations and won Favorite Female Soloist and Song of the Year at the Southern Gospel Music Awards in October 2006, as well as Female Vocalist and Progressive Song of the Year at the so gospel news awards in April 2007.

The Greenes host one of the nation's most popular Gospel Sings in their hometown of Boone, NC. The event, held annually the second weekend in August, brings thousands of people into Boone to celebrate gospel music. Tony, 38, promotes this event as well as several events throughout the year in various towns across the country including two of the largest indoor SG concerts with Abraham Productions. In addition, with the release of his comedy recordings, Life's Too Short Not To Laugh and Laugh Again, Tony has become recognized as one of the funniest Christian comedians. Tony was voted favorite Christian Comedian by the voters of the Southern Gospel Music Awards in 2005. Tony also stays very busy handling the managerial responsibilities for The Greenes.

In August 2000, Tim became very ill with aspergillis black toxic mold poisoning. The illness threatened his life several times, God had other plans. Tim moved to the coast of North Carolina in May of 2005 with his family. Since his move, Tim has regained his health and is now living a normal life again. Tim has moved his recording studio with him and has been very busy working there at the Beach Loft Studio. He attends First Baptist Church in Shallotte where he is helping with the music and is able to preach. Thank you for praying for Tim, he is doing so well, but due to his illness he is no longer able to travel full time with The Greenes.

The Greenes now consist of Tony and TaRanda Greene, joined by Brad Hudson and John Jeffrey. Brad is no stranger to Southern Gospel music. He began singing as a child at various churches in North Carolina and at the age of 17, started a group called 3-for-1. He traveled with the group for eight years before taking a brief sabbatical to spend some time with his wife, Sonya, who is now expecting their first child due in July. When The Greenes decided to hire someone to permanently join their team, they called Brad and he accepted. Brad, age 28, has an incredible voice that blends so perfectly with Tony and TaRanda. He also possesses a servant's heart and loves to lift the name of Christ. John Jeffrey, age 28, is a vital part of The Greenes' team. John is from Salt Rock, West Virginia where he learned to play piano at the age of seven that led him to play piano for his first gospel group in 1994 giving him the opportunity to travel with such names as The Hoppers, Jeff & Sheri Easter, and David Phelps and now, The Greenes. John has a warm personality that shows how much he loves Jesus. Even with the personnel changes, the group continues on with their reputation of smooth harmonies and anointed songs. Tony and TaRanda are very excited about the future of The Greenes.

Every member of this group prays daily that God will give them souls for their labors and they all share a common goal to be the best they can be for the glory and honor of the Lord. Despite several years of success, The Greenes still see a need to keep on keeping on, telling the story of grace and glory and compelling the lost to come to Jesus the Savior!
